SilentJ, Growing in Brazil

October 20, 2009

An adoring fan from Brazil sent us this link recently, of footage of SilentJ from the Inter web site. How cool is that? They mention Noel Gallagher from Oasis, and then show SilentJ jamming on Mend.

Mend, Get it for Free

October 18, 2009

The Mend video is growing in popularity like crazy. Yesterday we were the 6th most watched music video in Brasil, and we're on the charts in South Korea. We have no idea why. But the song is going crazy so we want to make it available to you, here, for free...Get It HERE!!!

SilentJ, We Knew It, Red Was a Good Idea

October 17, 2009

When SilentJ put together our first logo, we gravitated to the color red. Not bright red. Not Ferrari Red. Not fire truck red. Just SilentJ red...but now we know where the calling came from...Brasil. In September of '09, we won round one of the DC Fox Rocks competition. For round two of the semi-finals, Jeff wore an S.C. Internacional jersey. We thought our fans in Brasil would get a kick out of seeing their jersey on TV. Little did we know how this would take off. Check it out, SilentJ, some hometown boys from Ellicott City, MD are getting air time right next to Noel Gallagher, on Inter TV. We are so overwhelmed with the support we're getting from the fans in Brasil. Our new video is collecting hits by the second, and our web site is being flooded with fan mail. Mend is a hit, and we are so proud. Thanks to everyone in Brasil for their support. Go Colorado!!!

Official Mend Video Released

October 15, 2009

Today, we're so excited to announce the release of the official video for Mend. Check it out on YouTube. The video was shot by Schroder Films in New Jersey. The footage was gathered during our performance during the 2009 DC Fox Rocks competition, as well as in and around Washington, DC. Feel free to download the track in MP3, here.

We did it...No...YOU did it!!!

A huge thanks to the SilentJ army. We did it! We won the first round of the DC Fox Rocks contest. We have made the semi-finals with five other local bands. We'll be playing at Arlington's Clarendon Grill on Wednesday October 7, 2009. We need you to come out and cheer your heads off for us. The next round is based on audience response at the live shows.

A special thanks goes out to the S.C. Internacional fans around the world. They rallied together and put in a lot of votes for us. Thanks to our fans in Brasil.

SilentJ is proud to announce that our 2008 EP, Mend is now available on Amazon.com. We encourage you to go over there and provide reviews, maybe pick a copy up while you are there. ;) At least provide a review, and then get a free copy via the player below. Thanks, we love ya.

Big Thanks to the SilentJ Army...

From day one, we've had a very supportive fan base, and every month it seems to grow and become more passionate. We find that our fans are as passionate for our music, as we are. For that, we are grateful. We love writing, composing and performing, but without our fans, we'd have nothing.

August 14, 2009

It's been a summer of...of...well...mostly nothing. SilentJ took some time off this summer to rest up and work on new material. We're working on some great new original music, as well as some fun covers. We've signed with Unsigned Artist Booking to help us book shows, and hope to be super busy by the winter.

We've add some new songs to the web site as well. Check out our Discography page for a smattering of Scratch tracks. These are rough recordings that we do in the band when we want to share a song idea with the rest of the band. We thought it would be cool to give you an early, insider view of these tunes. Enjoy. Feel free to stream and listen, or download and share.

And finally, we've entered into the DC Fox Rocks contest so we'll be pestering you to vote for us beginning Sept 7.

May 21, 2009

We've made a few changes to the web site. Our Cafepress site, now has some new gear. We've put 2009 Tour shirts up on the site. Show up at a gig with one on, and I (Jeff) will personally buy you drink. We've also updated the Discography page to include free downloads of all of our tunes, as well as our music videos. And finally, our Press Kit is now available for download as well.

SilentJ is helping teens quit smoking. SilentJ's song Words in a Letter is being distributed with the Maryland Trash program's Quit Smoking Kit for teens. SilentJ is one of five bands that were selected to participate in this project. We're happy to do our part to help teens quit smoking. You can learn more about the program on the Maryland Trash web site. Teens can order a quit smoking package there as well.

Has it really been almost a year since we last updated the liner notes? Ouch. I guess we've been rockin' out to hard to be on the Internets. SilentJ has been working on some new material; some covers of some old favorites as well as some new very cool originals. We're excited for May 28...and the Frederick Alive @ Five gig. It's going to be a great show, at a great venue...and we'll be ready with some new tunes. See you there. And then two days later at Michael's Pub in Columbia, MD. That will be an awesome time.

August 13, 2008

August 13? Already? The summer is over? What happened to summer? Seems like the summer of '08 just passed us right by. It seems like we didn't do much, but we got a lot done. We've released two singles this week. You can check out Words in a Letter, and Life Chosen/Bullet on our MySpace page. We hope to have the music on other sites soon as well to make it easy for you to get to. We also put together our first music video. This started as a goof in the studio. Kevin and Jeff recorded some video with a digicam and we edited it together to make a quick video. It looked good, so we shot more video, and did it up right. You can check out that video, and a video of us rehearsing in the studio on Youtube.com.

The August 8, 2008 show at the Fish Head was a blast. We had a huge turn out, and the night was just perfect. Thanks so much to everyone that came out and supported us.

July 15, 2008
IGU has confirmed and we are ready to go for the Fish Head Cantina in Arbutus. It's going to be an awesome night at an outdoor venue. Plenty of great food, drink and of course music will be there to be had. The show starts at 9:00pm and goes to 1:30am. We hope to see everyone there.

July 3, 2008
Summertime is in full swing, and SilentJ is working on new material. We're looking forward to our show at the Fish Head Cantina next month. IGU will be joining us again, which is awesome. We'll be playing some new covers as well as some new originals.

SilentJ at the Fish Head Cantina January 17, 2008
Our gig last night at the Fish Head Cantina in Arbutus with International Graduate University was fantastic. We had a great turn out, 40+ people on a Wednesday night in January! Awesome. The PA and the sound guys Joe and Scott were amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better night. Everything was spot on, and once again the SilentJ Army totally posted for us. We are so grateful. We are hoping to post some live recordings from the show on MySpace soon.

January 1, 2008
January is shaping up to be the culmination of our winter tour *sic*. We're playing our gig at the Fish Head Cantina in Arbutus with International Graduate University and then we plan to get in on the Open Mic at the 8x10 club. After that we'll be out of commission for awhile. We're taking some time off from playing gigs to work on some new material. We have a bunch of new originals, and we are definatley going to pull out some new covers too.

Sometime in March we should be back on our feet and ready to his Bal'more again. We hope to do some shows by teaming up with some other Baltimore Bands this summer. More to come soon...

SilentJ

SilentJ began in the early Spring of 2007 with two acoustic guitars on a backyard deck in Ellicott City, MD. We soon added a third guitar that quickly transformed into a bass. Months later, another meeting on the deck turned up a drummer from down the street. Days later, SilentJ was born in a basement jam session.

People ask how the band was formed, and we can only answer, organically. It just happened.

SilentJ is...

John Mauser - Lead vocals and Rhythm Guitar
Jeff Daro - Lead Guitar
Tim Newman - Bass Guitar
Kevin Brady - Drums and Percussion
